Wix Velo Developer for Custom Wix Builds

Wix Legend Partner · Certified Velo Developer · 200+ Wix projects delivered · 5+ years on Wix

Wix Squad, a Wix Solutions Studio founded by Certified Velo Developer and Wix Legend Partner Sadique Habibullah, writes custom Wix Velo code for the features Wix can’t do out of the box: dashboards, booking systems, member portals, API integrations and automations. We’ve delivered 200+ Wix projects for 150+ clients in the US, UK and Europe, including cutting a data-heavy Velo page’s load time from about 5 seconds to about 1 second.

What is Wix Velo, and when do you need a Velo developer?

Velo is Wix’s built-in development platform. It lets a developer add JavaScript to a Wix or Wix Studio site, work with databases, call outside APIs and run code on the server, while you keep editing the design in Wix as usual.

You need a Velo developer when an app from the Wix App Market gets you 80% of the way and the last 20% is what your business actually depends on. Typical signs:

  • Your team copies data between Wix and another tool by hand.

  • You need a booking, quoting or ordering flow that follows your own rules.

  • Clients or members need a private area with their own data.

  • Your site has become slow since custom features were added.

  • You’ve stacked several apps that don’t talk to each other.

What our Wix Velo development includes

  • Custom dashboards and admin panels so your team can manage orders, leads or content without touching the Wix editor.

  • Booking and scheduling systems with your own availability rules, deposits, delivery dates and confirmations.

  • Member portals and client areas with logins, roles and permissions, and data each user can see and edit.

  • Custom databases and dynamic pages, including external databases and SEO-friendly router pages.

  • API and third-party integrations with Firebase, Airtable, Google Sheets, Trello, CRMs and payment APIs.

  • Automations: scheduled jobs, webhooks, emails and data syncs that run in the background.

  • Multi-step forms and calculators with conditional fields, auto-save and live previews.

  • eCommerce and checkout logic through Wix service plugins (custom shipping rules, payment providers).

  • Speed fixes for slow pages caused by heavy Velo code or data calls.

  • Wix Marketplace apps built with Wix Blocks and the Wix CLI.

Velo projects we’ve shipped

Data-heavy Velo page: ~5s → ~1s

A video rental platform’s episode page took over 5 seconds to load. We refactored when and where the backend data calls run. Load time dropped to about 1–1.3 seconds, consistently, with the same content and features.

Self-service advertising portal

A directory publisher needed advertisers to buy listings without emailing back and forth. We built a single-page, multi-step portal with package-based fields, auto-saved drafts, logo upload, multiple contacts per company and a live preview of the listing as the advertiser types. External databases with SEO-friendly pages

A Swiss client wanted live data from their own databases on their Wix sites, without copying it into Wix. Velo backend code pulls the data in real time; listing pages filter and paginate across thousands of records; router pages give every item a clean URL and its own SEO settings. More Velo work: one login for a Wix site and US statistics software via Firebase, a delivery-date calendar for SOYOO built without plugins, and automatic shipping fees for all 47 Japanese prefectures. See all case studies

Why is my Wix site slow, and can Velo code fix it?

Often, yes. The usual causes on custom Wix sites are code that waits for one database call to finish before starting the next, loading every record when the page only shows ten, running heavy work in the browser instead of the backend, and several apps loading scripts on every page.

We start with a short speed audit: which elements load late, which data calls block the page, and which apps add weight. Then we fix the code itself, for example by running queries in parallel, paging data, caching results and moving work to the backend. You keep the same design and features; the page just loads faster.

How much does a Wix Velo developer cost?

Our Velo work starts at these prices (the same ‘from’ prices as our Wix Marketplace profile):

  • Coding guidance and code review: from $200

  • Custom site functionality (navigation, filtering, forms): from $300

  • Custom design and behavior (animations, interactions): from $400

  • Databases and dynamic pages, custom input forms, third-party services: from $500

  • Larger systems (portals, booking systems, dashboards): fixed quote after the scoping call

What changes the price: the number of integrations, how much data you have, user roles and permissions, payments or checkout changes, whether design work is needed, the state of any existing code, and your deadline.

How to choose a reliable Velo developer

  • Proof of Velo skill: Sadique Habibullah is a Certified Velo Developer and Wix Marketplace App Developer.

  • Wix’s own vetting: Wix Squad is a Wix Legend Partner.

  • Track record: 200+ Wix projects, 150+ clients, 50+ of them long-term partners, and a 5.0 average across client reviews on wixsquad.com.

  • Real case studies with the problem, the code approach and the result, not just screenshots.

  • One accountable lead: a founder-led studio with a small specialist team, so the person who scopes your project also reviews the code.

Wix Velo FAQs

What can Velo do that the Wix editor and apps can’t?

Velo adds custom logic: your own database rules, calls to outside APIs, backend code, user-specific pages and automations. If an app almost fits but not quite, Velo usually closes the gap.

Does Velo work on both Wix Editor and Wix Studio sites?

Yes. We write Velo code for sites on the classic Wix Editor and on Wix Studio.

Can you work on a site another developer built?

Yes. We start with a code review, explain what we find, and then fix, extend or rebuild only what needs it.

Will my custom code break when Wix updates?

We build on Wix’s official Velo APIs, avoid unsupported workarounds and comment the code, so updates rarely cause problems. If one does, we fix it.

Who owns the code?

You do. The code lives inside your Wix site, and it stays there if you work with someone else later.

Can you work white-label for my agency?

Yes. Many agencies use Wix Squad as their Velo back-end: you keep the client relationship, and we build and test the code.

How we work: 5 steps

1. Free scoping call. You show us the site and the problem; we ask about users, data and deadlines.

2. Written plan and fixed quote. What we’ll build, how it works, what it costs and when it’s ready.

3. Build on a test copy. We develop on a duplicate or test pages, so your live site keeps running, and share progress updates.

4. Test and hand over. We test on desktop, tablet and mobile, comment the code and walk you through how to use it.

5. Launch and support. We publish with you and fix anything that comes up after launch.

Typical timelines: small fixes and code tasks in 1–3 days; a single custom feature in 1–2 weeks; portals, booking systems and multi-part builds in 3–6 weeks.
